Authenticity - Zejtun
This typical townhouse in Zejtun was bursting with character. From its arches to its imposing columns in the hallway, stained glass niches and wide staircase, it had all the potential for a more modernized conversion. The style direction was dominated by the Greek style arches and we softened this out through the use of mouse grey washed walls set against stark white columns for contrast. The flooring was already neutral, so we simply converted the doors from a traditional brown to a contemporary white with brass handles. This instant update already served to freshen up the look.
The hallway and squarer space under the stairs, also took on a stylistic upgrade with a pair of emerald green velvet chairs, a brass table and a mirror, as well as a variety of brass plant vases to fill up the area. Upon entrance, the continuous use of white pieces served both function and aesthetics, flanked by art pieces for effect and interest. The main living room took on a whole new vibe, a contemporary warm feel with wooden floors, soft grey L-shaped sofa, a functional clean lines white unit and some design pieces in off pink to complement the coloured wall and duck egg damask wallpaper.
A few other stylistic pieces worked well in the hall, to accentuate the stained glass effect and not attempt to hide it. Finally, a blue and white classic bathroom with vintage artsy design tiles and a deep blue vanity, matched with brass faucets, elevates the entire space, combining both function and beauty to an otherwise ordinary bathroom. Authenticity was a crucial theme in this renovation, works of which are still in progress.
