Atelier - Ibragg
The client had multiple concerns - she wished to utilise a pre existing space in her basement, to cater for her art studio, a part display of her own paintings where she could comfortably meet clients to discuss paintings, as well as a chill out area for the family away from the main living room of the house. Given that the space was long and narrow, the galley concept came into play. I proposed a galley arrangement of pieces that would come into play with symmetrical walls of function and colour, that would take the centre stage for her paintings, displaying them in a coherent and clear manner, against a subdued yet elegant coloured wall.
In the chill our area, a custom bar ledge in either pink terrazzo or cinnamon slate terrazzo was proposed to blend with the coral dust or cinnamon slate background wall (depends on the chosen option), striking contrast against a pair of sage green large vases on either side, and faux leather green stools. A stylish and cool concept for drinks and displays for other drinks and bites. A striking vintage effect brown leather sofa, in combination with oak furniture pieces, jute and wicker accessories and a slick grey and bronzed TV unit and book case, set the tone for the rest of the space. Artsy, classy yet harmoniously in sync. The client area, partially sectioned off with large wicker vases and tall plants, is earthy, and chic, featuring an oak refectory styled table, and two velvet Chelsea brown swivel chairs.
A custom slated oak room divider is the final touch to split the final section into a more private and contained space, housing the clients own art room, and ancillary products. What strikes in this 3 in 1 space is the juxtaposition of colours, that simultaneously blend with the focal attention on the walls, being the clients own art display. Track lights illuminate the space, whilst soft touches of faux fur, tapestry style cushions and wicker, all add visual interest and texture to this special space, of artistic and creative fusion.
